The Doctor and Charley happen to be the remote Cimmerian Program to unravel the mystery of its sun. But darkness has recently embraced the scientific base on Cimmeria IV in even more ways than one. Within a combat for survival, the physician must use all his wits against a dangerous artificial life-form and a historical race whose return to the Cimmerian System threatens suffering and death with an apocalyptic scale.
