“Stop trying to make me mad,” Ray muttered. Jauge’s grin vanished.

“That’s all you’re designed to be,” Jauge said. Ray fought back again the fury that rose in her upper body at Jauge’s condescending firmness. “You do not know what you are considering, Ray. You do not know what your home is. What questions would obtain you there?”

“My home is in Phoenix,” Ray said.

“And Phoenix is scorching, isn’t it?” Jauge said. “The sky melts away you?”

“My home is in Phoenix,” Ray stated, more fiercely.
