A lazy and wussy ex-gamer, Phil becomes mostly of the humans who get a mysterious alien piece of wetware which allows them to start to see the world through an augmented-reality interface very similar to those found in a MMORPG video game. Led by its stats and messages, Phil starts to level up, steadily transforming himself and his lifestyle. He even opens his very own business in order to help his close friends and comprehensive strangers who get a newfound respect for him, assisting him in his travails. As Phil continues on the path to self-improvement, guided by his personal conscience instead of system communications, he tries to find out more about the mysterious third party which includes bestowed such superhuman skills upon him.
