One, they might face a vast empire made up of a huge selection of about Nua’ll: A Silver Ships Book races, and, two, the Nua’ll weren’t the leaders from the federacy. They had spoken of masters.
Multiple issues faced Alex Racine, the Omnian leader, to cobble together the fleet he required. Haraken and New Terra were worlds with limited materials production capability. But they produced people who had been anxious to deliver a blow against the federation.
A debate raged over whether human beings should flee, wait around, or fight the onslaught of large spheres, which ravaged humankind’s worlds, and the probes that spied in it. It had been Alex Racine’s choice to confront the alien race. Anything much less was only delaying the inevitable.
The Omnians knew nothing about what they might find beyond the wall, where the federation’s enormous empire lay.
