These words were written by E. B. White colored in 1947.

Years before our current political turmoil, White crafted eloquent yet practical political claims that continue to resonate. “There’s only 1 sort of press that’s any good-” he proclaimed, “a press clear of any taint of the federal government.” He condemned the tendency of defamation, arguing that “in doubtful, doubting times, national morality tends to slip and slip toward a condition about On Democracy where the test of a man’s honor is normally his zeal for finding dishonor in others.” And on the pass on of fascism he lamented, “fascism likes at the moment an almost ideal weather for growth-a globe of fear and craving for food.”
