Summary:
BROOKLYN: Andi Alpers is in the advantage. She’s upset at her father for leaving, angry at her mom for not having the ability to manage, and heartbroken by the loss of her younger sibling, Truman. Trend and grief are destroying her. And she’s going to become expelled from Brooklyn Heights’ most prestigious private school when her dad intervenes. Right now Andi must accompany him to Paris for winter break.
PARIS: Alexandrine Paradis lived more than two centuries back. She dreamed of making her mark for the Paris about Revolution stage, but a fateful encounter with a doomed prince of France cast her in a tragic part she didn’t want-and couldn’t get away.
Two girls, two centuries apart. One never understanding the other. However when Andi discovers Alexandrine’s diary, she recognizes something in her terms and is relocated to the idea of obsession. There’s comfort and ease and distraction for Andi in the journal’s antique pages-until, on a midnight trip through the catacombs of Paris, Alexandrine’s terms transcend paper and time, and the past becomes suddenly, terrifyingly present.
Jennifer Donnelly, author of the award-winning book A Northern Light, artfully weaves two ladies’ stories into one memorable account of life, reduction, and enduring love. Revolution spans generations and vividly depicts the eternal challenges of the individual heart.
