Summary:
Everyone Anton Waker was raised with is corrupt. His parents dealt in taken products, and he was an effective purveyor of forged papers until he deserted it all in his early twenties, identified to live a normal life, filled with profession, apartment, and a fiancée who knows nothing of his legal beginnings. He’s over the verge of finally engaged and getting married when Aria-his cousin and former partner in crime-blackmails him into assisting her with one last work.
Anton considers the task a small price for future independence. But as he sets off for an Italian honeymoon, it shortly becomes clear which the spirits of his past can’t be left behind so easily, and that the duty Aria requires will definitely cost him more than he could ever visualize.
“A gripping tale, filled with moral ambiguities, where deception and betrayal become the norm, and where in fact the expression ‘ a riddle wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma’ is lifted to new heights.” -St. Louis Post-Dispatch
