Three hundred years ago, the S.S. Valiant was destroyed during an ill-fated attemptedto cross the famous Galactic Hurdle. Starfleet had generally assumed that this Valiant got perished with all hands aboard, until a pair of unusual humanoids reach Starbase 209, declaring to become the descendants of a handful of Valiant survivors who discovered refuge with an M-Class world beyond the Hurdle.

Even more shocking, the guests warn a hostile alien types, the Nuyyad, are getting ready to invade about The Valiant our galaxy. Starfleet purchases the U.S.S. Stargazer to investigate at once.

Lieutenant Commander Jean-Luc Picard is second office on the Stargazer and yet to command a vessel of his personal. He soon builds up a special bond with among the site visitors, a strikingly beautiful woman who has inherited mysterious psychic abilities from her alleged Starfleet ancestors.
