Summary:
David Soul (‘Starsky and Hutch’) narrates and Simon Time (‘The Fast Show’) stars within this fantastical BBC Radio 4 humor series looking at most entertaining apocalypses on parallel Earths. Originally broadcast from 15 Dec 2010 – 19 January 2011. We all worry about the end of the globe, as economists and environmentalists speak in apocalyptic terms everyday. ‘iGod’ says that trying to predict the end of the globe is really as pointless as moisturising an elephant’s elbow. In each show, an about iGod unnamed, all-seeing narrator (David Soul) shows us that it’s stupid to become stressing, as he looks back at some of the most engaging apocalypses on parallel Earths. Every week our case study is a normal bloke called Ian (Simon Day) who manages to unintentionally start the apocalypse of the different parallel globe through a seemingly harmless single work (informing a lie, becoming lazy, cooking some lamb shanks). A succession of comic vignettes ensue that escalate to the finish of a parallel world. Using a full-range of sound files and wonderfully funny and surreal twists, ‘iGod’ is definitely a highly initial aural extravaganza. Written by Sean Grey, one of the mind writers from the BAFTA award-winning ‘The Solid of It’, and made by Simon Nicholls (‘Ed Reardon’s Week’, ‘Information at Bedtime’), ‘iGod’ superstars Simon Day time, David Soul, Rosie Cavaliero, Alex MacQueen and Dan Tetsell.
