Summary:

Steve Coogan was born and raised in Manchester in the 1960s, the fourth of six kids. From an early age he interested his family with impressions and was often told he should ‘end up being for the telly’. Failing to get into the London-based crisis schools, he approved a place at Manchester Polytechnic School of Theatre and before graduating had been given his initial break being a voice artist within the satirical puppet present Spitting Image.

The later eighties and early nineties saw Coogan developing about Easily Distracted characters he could perform on the comedy circuit, from Ernest Moss to Paul Calf, and in 1992 he won a Perrier award with John Thomson. It had been around once, while working with Armando Iannucci and Patrick Marber on WITHIN THE Hour and YOUR DAY Today, that Alan Partridge surfaced, almost fully created.

Coogan, once a tabloid fixture, is currently a respected film actor, writer and manufacturer. He runs his own production business, Baby Cow, includes a raft of movies to his name (from 24 Hour Party Visitors to Alpha Papa, the critically-acclaimed Partridge film), six Baftas and seven Comedy Honours. He has discovered huge success lately with both The Trip and Philomena, the second option bringing him two Oscar nominations, for producing and co-writing.

In Easily Distracted he lifts the lid on the true Steve Coogan, writing with distinct humour and an unexpected candour in regards to a loud childhood surrounded by foster kids, his attention-seeking adolescent years and his introduction as a household name with the birth of Alan Partridge.

Narrated by Steve Coogan himself.
