Mr. District Lawyer came to radio in 1939 and focused on a crusading DA named Paul Garrett. Created, created, and directed by former law pupil Ed Byron, the series was influenced by the first years of NY governor Thomas E. Dewey. It was Dewey’s public war against racketeering which resulted in his election as governor and allowed him to run for the presidency of the United States. Phillips H. Lord, the originator of Gang Busters, helped Byron develop the idea and coined the name. Dwight about Mr. Region Attorney, Vol. 1 Weist was radio’s first Mr. Area Attorney. With the help of his sidekick, Len Harrington, and his secretary, Edith Miller, Mr. Area Attorney proved every week to be “champion of the people-guardian of our fundamental rights alive, liberty, as well as the pursuit of pleasure!” Near the end of its radio operate in the early 1950s, the series produced a changeover to television with the existing radio solid reprising their assignments.
