We continue our exploration of the career of Elvis Presley with the second installment of the three component series. Presley would face both happy situations and challenging moments as his popularity continued to grow. He proceeded to go Hollywood and added “movie star” to his job application, but he also got drafted in 1958 which same year, faced the loss of life of his beloved mother.

Presley and his affiliates — including longtime drummer DJ Fontana and Nancy Sinatra — share their memories of the period with web host Wink Martindale. It was a period which found Elvis’ supervisor, Colonel Parker, control up to 30 thousand lover letters a month and supervising actions of a reported 5,000 lover clubs around the world. It all results in a very busy decade of work for Elvis, who scored four number 1 albums, a hefty handful of chart topping singles — and appeared in nearly 30 movies.
