Summary:

This is actually the memoir compiled by Bella Kuligowska Zucker, the only person in her family to survive the Holocaust. In Sept 1939, Bella was a carefree teen living in Poland when the German army struck. She was curved up with her friends and family and delivered to a series of grim Jewish ghettos. After loved ones had been separated and dropped through the war years, Bella survived by changing her identification.

Narrowly escaping death each time, she moved from place to place, odd job to odd job, new name about Sabina: In the attention from the Storm to fresh name. After locating the birth certificate of a Catholic female five years her senior, she became Sabina Mazurek. Then she went into the eye from the surprise, Germany, where she thought she may be safest. Sabina can be her story.

As in Diary of a Lady by Anne Frank and Evening by Elie Wiesel, Bella Kuligowska marshaled unexpected resources to control as a teen during the horrors of World War II. Sabina offers a different perspective on what many Jews survived beyond the concentration camps, in more familiar yet infinitely hostile settings, with the help of others along the way.
