For forty years, the Twelve Colonies of Man skilled peace, united since the war against the man-made Cylons. The Cylons, mechanical beings intended to perform the manual labor civilization needed, were gone forever…or so mankind thought.

However in those years, the Cylons developed new Cylons that looked and acted like humans–with one objective in mind: to destroy almost all humanity! When they all of a sudden attacked the Twelve Worlds, humanity’s extinction appeared inevitable.

Only a single warship survived the massive attack: Battlestar Galactica, the oldest ship in the fleet, prepared to be decommissioned and converted into a museum. Commander William Adama, himself set to retire, experienced but one program: to marshal the meager makes available, a ragtag staff of misfits and green recruits, to prevent their foe from wiping out the last vestiges of the human race. However the Cylons, stronger, smarter, and powered to damage their creators, may just be too powerful to them and most of humanity to survive.
