Lear, the aging ruler, decides to relinquish his throne and divide his kingdom consistently among his three daughters as dependant on their affirmations of like. Enraged and disappointed over daughter Cordelia’s declaration, he banishes her and divides his kingdom similarly between her two sisters. Jealousy and satisfaction consume both as they seek to control the kingdom. Treachery and betrayal result in tragedy as the king slowly manages to lose his hold on reality.
