The writer of ‘Acres of Diamonds’ (1890) was Russell Herman Conwell (1843 – 1925), an American Baptist minister, orator, philanthropist, attorney, and writer. The writer was inspired with the story of a Persian farmer who loses his life buying gemstone mine when his personal farm (which he offered to financing his search for a mine) actually contained acres of diamonds. The primary message of the motivational classic is definitely that one need not look somewhere else for opportunity, achievement or fortune, as the resources to attain all good things are already present in one’s personal community.
