When novelist Charles Condomine invites a medium into his home in order to find out about the occult for his fresh book, the last thing he or his second wife desire would be that the séance provides back again his first wife, Elvira, who wants Charles almost all to herself! Issues are further challenging by the fact that only Charles can easily see her, which results in some amusing exchanges and misunderstandings. Elvira’s plots to get him to ‘the additional side’ do not go to plan however, and instead of Charles dying in her contrived ‘incident’ his fresh wife will! Many consider this to be among Coward’s best and most unusual farces.
