Hank Jensen doesn’t have confidence in monsters-not the type Stephen Ruler writes about at any rate.

Hank is among New York’s best lawbreaker profilers, and he loves his work. But when he matches the Bristol Butchers, all that changes. They are a pair of psychopaths-cannibals. He chases them regardless of the disabling curse they solid on him, in spite of their risks to his family, and when he catches up to them, his horror begins. They claim to be gods-immortal, omnipotent-and they become monsters before his eye. Unable to end them, the battle leaves him sick, despondent, damaged. His career reaches an end. His just respite is usually his family.

Years later, the Butchers return to help to make good on their threats. When his family disappears on Halloween night, Hank decides his time for doing there is nothing at a finish.

He must chase them to areas he thought existed only in myth. He knows they have the energy to improve monsters, mythical beings-even the dead-to block his path. How can he, a disabled mortal, conquer gods? How will he overcome his impairment, his doubts?
