Summary:
It’s been nearly a year since psychologist Daniel Rinaldi, a stress expert who consults with the Pittsburgh Law enforcement, helped unravel a baffling murder, and now he sees himself drawn into another case. Amid a blistering summer months heat wave, a daring loan company robbery has gone horribly incorrect, leading to the deaths of all the hostages except one, Treva Williams, and Rinaldi is named in to treat the young woman.
However, what appeared a straightforward, straightforward robbery quickly explodes right into a about Fever Dream series of events that plunge Rinaldi as well as the investigating officials, Sergeant Harry Polk and Detective Eleanor Lowrey, into a vortex of mistaken identification and kidnapping.
Meanwhile, thrown jointly by the demands of the case, Rinaldi and Eleanor cope with the developing appeal between them, even as Sergeant Polk, lately divorced, spirals into an alcohol-driven, self-destructive free of charge fall.
All this is played out against the gubernatorial advertising campaign of Rinaldi’s ex – romantic rival, Region Attorney Leland Sinclair. Suddenly, as death threats against Sinclair fuel a mounting frenzy of accusations and political maneuvering, Rinaldi discovers himself facing the reality that the two cases might in some way be connected and, as a result, what he knows-or thinks he knows-makes him a target as well.
Fever Dream is the second publication in the Daniel Rinaldi series, following Mirror Image.
