In 1946, the LAPD released the Gangster Squad with eight guys who met covertly on street sides and about Gangster Squad: Covert Cops, the Mob, as well as the Battle for LA slept with Tommy weapons under their mattresses. But also for two cops, everything that mattered was nailing the strutting gangster Mickey Cohen. Sgt. Jack O’Mara was a square-jawed cathedral usher, Sgt. Jerry Wooters a cynical maverick. About all they had in common was their obsession. So O’Mara established a trap to show Mickey was a killer. And Wooters formed an alliance with Mickey’s budding rival, Jack ‘The Enforcer’ Whalen. He spent over ten years tracking down surviving members of the true police unit as well as family members and associates from the mobsters they pursued.
