Summary:
As circumstances deteriorated in Germany in the 1930s, many Jews tried in vain to flee. But thanks to a United kingdom humanitarian effort, about 10,000 Jewish kids from Germany and neighboring countries had been relocated to live with family members in the United Kingdom, while their parents remained behind. This passage to freedom became referred to as Kindertransport, and is the title of Diane Samuels’ play about families, secrets, and survival.
Includes a discussion with Kindertransport survivor Hilda Fogelson.
