Summary:
Contemporary medicine has conquered or included many of the diseases that used to carry children away before their period, reducing mortality and increasing health. Vaccination and treatment are widely available, not kept in reserve for the selected few. You may still find monsters still left to fight, but the previous ones, the easy ones, difficulty us forget about.
Or so we thought. For using the reduction in danger comes the erosion of memory space, as pandemics fade from storage into story into story book. Those old diseases about Kingdom of Needle and Bone can’t have already been so very bad, people say, or we wouldn’t become here to speak about them. They don’t really matter. They’re hardly ever coming back.
It begins having a fever. By the time the spots appear, it’s as well late: Morris’s disease is normally loose for the world, as well as the bodies of the dead start to pile saturated in the roads. When its terrible side implications for the survivors become apparent, something should be completed, or the dying will never stop. For Dr. Isabella Gauley, whose niece was the first confirmed victim, the route ahead is neither very clear nor strictly honest, but it may be the only way to save a world already in crisis. It may be the only way to atone on her behalf part in everything that’s happened. She will never be forgiven, not really by herself, rather than by other people. But she can, perhaps, do the proper thing.
