Fresh back again from leading, another foe defeated, Prince Arutha comes to find all is not well in Krondor. A series of apparently arbitrary murders has taken an eerie calm to the city. Where normally the roads are bustling with about Krondor: The Assassins retailers and tricksters, good life and evening life, now there appears to be a self-imposed curfew at sundown.

Mutilated bodies have already been arriving in the sewers, the Mockers’ demense. The Thieves’ Guild continues to be decimated – men, women, kids, it matters not really. The head from the Mockers is definitely missing, presumed deceased. Those few who survived the horrible attacks are laying low. Suprisingly low.
