This Sequel towards the Acclaimed Cult Novel Is Now a Major Motion Picture

Darryl Ponicsan’s debut novel The Last Details was named one of the better of the entire year and widely acclaimed, catapulting him to popularity when it was first published. The storyplot of two profession sailors assigned to escort a seaman from Norfolk towards the naval jail in Portsmouth, New Hampshire—and of the mayhem that ensues—it was made into an award-winning film starring Jack port Nicholson. Last Flag Soaring, established thirty-four years about Last Flag Soaring after the events of The Last Detail, includes the same much loved personas—Billy Bad-Ass Buddusky, Mule Mulhall, and Meadows—to reprise the same journey but under completely different circumstances.

Now middle-aged, Meadows looks for out his former captors within their civilian lives to help him bury his son, a Marine killed in Iraq, in Arlington Country wide Cemetery. When he discovers that the government bodies have told him a lay about the conditions of his son’s loss of life, he decides, by using both others, to move him home to Portsmouth. And so begins the trip, centered around a solemn objective but, as with the first book, a protest against injustice and celebration of life too, at once irreverent, funny, profane, and deeply shifting. Last Flag Traveling is now a significant movie, directed by Richard Linklater and starring Bryan Cranston, Steve Carell, and Laurence Fishburne.
