Summary:
This is probably one of the most accessible of Nietzsche’s works. It had been published in 1887, a 12 months after Beyond Great and Evil, and he designed it to be always a continuation from the investigation in to the theme of morality. In the initial work, Nietzsche attacked the idea of morality as only institutionalised weakness, and he criticised past philosophers for their unquestioning approval of moral precepts. In Over the Genealogy of Morals, subtitled ‘A Polemic’, Nietzsche furthers his quest for a clarity that’s much less tainted by enforced prejudices. He looks at the way attitudes towards ‘morality’ developed and the way congenital tips of morality had been heavily coloured from the Judaic and Christian customs.
