In 1921, the bloodied bodies of Colonel Fletcher, his wife and two staff are found within a manor house in Surrey. The authorities have put the murders right down to a violent robbery, but Detective Inspector Madden from Scotland Backyard has his very own suspicions. In the meantime the killer is usually plotting his second hit.
