Like its predecessor Dragnet, Tales of the Texas Rangers adapted actual police case files because of its broadcasts. Leading each week’s analysis of a genuine Tx Ranger case was the same Texas Ranger, Jayce Pearson, portrayed by celeb Joel McCrea. As the tales were set in current, Pearson used the latest scientific ways to determine thieves. Unlike Joe Friday, Pearson didn’t have a normal partner, typically dealing with the neighborhood sheriff instead (who was usually about Tales of the Texas Rangers, Collection 1 portrayed by Parley Baer).
