Years before, that they had escaped together through the sinister Tombs of Atuan — she, an isolated adolescent priestess, he, a robust wizard. Now she is a farmer’s widow, having chosen for herself the simple pleasures of a typical life. And he is a broken aged guy, mourning the power lost to him not by choice. An eternity ago, they helped one another at the same time of darkness and risk. Now they must join forces once again, to help another — the actually and psychologically scarred child whose own destiny remains to become revealed.
