It’s Xmas 1980, and in the sprawling Upper Western Side apartment, Faye Bascov is going to throw an opulent Xmas dinner-a tradition because of this secular, well-educated Jewish family. But any family gathering can be an invitation for older resentments to boil over, as Faye’s sister-in-law Julie as well as the expanded family have plenty to hash out. Flash-forward to 2000, and the house, now very much shabbier, reflects the way the family’s fortunes possess changed, and the Bascovs will have to reckon using the legacy of their family members discord.
