Grieving widower Harold McCaffrey moves into the Mountain Splendor Retirement House and finds himself surviving in the Back Wing with a group of strange residents — ageing witches, vampires, werewolves and shape-shifters. He bonds along with his fellow denizens, specifically Bella, who has promise of becoming more than only a friend. Points are looking up for Harold — until he and Bella must make use of all their regular and extra-normal skills to solve two murders with this very unique pension community.
