Summary:
When real life husband and wife George Uses up and Gracie Allen worked jointly in vaudeville, George was the comic and his wife Gracie had the directly lines. They switched their assignments upon finding that Gracie’s delivery got a larger chuckle than George’s punch lines. The duo became a big strike on Vaudeville and in films therefore when radio beckoned, they delivered. Their initial regular radio function was as supporting players on CBS’s The Man Lombardo Show in the 1930s. When Lombardo switched to NBC, about The Burns up & Allen Present, Collection 1 George and Gracie overran the show. Early on, the two didn’t play a wedded couple within the air. For a long period, they continued a ‘flirtation take action’ with George as Gracie’s most persistent suitor. But when the show’s ratings started to sag toward the end from the 1930s, George made a decision it was time their real-life relationship was written into the show. The new format included husband-and-wife individuals in a situation comedy setting. George’s instincts were spot-on and The Burns up & Allen Present continued to new levels, eventually making a successful transition to television. 7/29/40 Likely to a Kiddie Party
