Lily, a librarian using a bookmobile, will come in the small California city of Nolan to greatly help start a book club. Across the ocean within an Alsatian chateau, the ancient Book of Cures is taken and surreptitiously travels to a California coastline library, then on to Nolan. Suspicion swirls across the three lonesome club members. Unacquainted with the fraud, they secretly go after their fascination with traditional erotica while sipping a unusual tea infused with natural herbs grown within a gypsy backyard. Mysterious events collide inside a whirlwind of intrigue. A criminal offense wave and a murder tremble up the city, and the ladies fall deeper and deeper right into a baffling puzzle of danger and death.
