Summary:
Made like a prequel to the strike film The Third Man, this radio show was created to follow the journeys of the favorite personality Harry Lime, played here, and in the film, by Orson Welles.
The 1949 film THE 3RD Man won an Academy Award and was a global success, called “magic” by Roger Ebert and “one of the finest films available” by the brand new York Times. Written by New York Situations bestselling novelist Graham Greene and aimed by Carol Reed, the production starred Joseph Cotten as Holly about The Lives of Harry Lime, a.k.a. THE 3RD Man, Vol. 1 Martins, an America who moves to postwar Vienna at the demand of his older friend Harry Lime, performed by Orson Welles. But it was the character of Harry Lime who almost stole the display.
While surviving in London, Orson Welles became familiar with maker Harry Alan Towers, who convinced Welles to surface in a radio series predicated on his character in The Third Man and to be titled The Lives of Harry Lime. Since Lime fits his end in the sewers of Vienna in the film, Towers, with Welles’ participation, decided to make the air display a prequel.
Produced in Britain and documented in London’s IBC Studios, The Lives of Harry Lime acquired a geniune continental taste, with adventures taking place in such incredible locales as Paris, Rome, Venice, Tangiers, and the French Riviera.
Because of brilliant scripts, expertly performed by Welles and a stock business of talented actors, the underworld activities of Harry Lime and his always-questionable associates lead to great entertainment. “Welles provides a mischievous portrayal to life to the pleasure of many, also writing a few of these displays himself. All most enjoyable fifty percent hours, they are definitely a case of rooting for the theif to win.”-JohnBrown.tv
