Growing up poor in small-town California as the oldest of six siblings, I knew I would never ride off in to the sunset with anyone. That was even more apparent whenever a senseless tragedy required the lives of my parents, forcing me to be the sole guardian of our dysfunctional home at the simple age of twenty-three.

A fateful encounter actually brought Prince Charming to my doorstep.
