Summary:

Today there is certainly more demand for information regarding the activities of the scholars than at any other amount of time in the past; there’s a growing wish to interact with and learn from religious scholars. Moreover, the amount of enthusiasm and anticipation communities demonstrate when either going to or being stopped at by scholars, is fairly profound.

Many people, however, feel distanced from Muslim scholars due to barriers of geography and language. Furthermore, whilst many Muslims have heard of various about The Means of the Righteous scholarly figures and have even read their functions or watched movies about them, the scholars are still known very superficially, as revered statistics attributed to a location or to a particular family. It really is due to the general insufficient knowledge about the type and achievements of Muslim scholars which i decided to compile some insightful stories through the lives of our scholars, so that they can bridge the distance between your Muslim community and these great personalities.

Inspired from the stories of Ayatullah Shahid Baqir al-Sadr’s reaction when watching Saddam’s thirsty guards (Web page 56) encircling his house and that of students requesting Ayatullah Sayyid Muhammad Husayni Shirazi what he’d do if he previously one day left to live, (Page 72) I set about compiling stories from the many biographies and Arabic places already in circulation. I approached the offices of the scholars, their family members and numerous scholars from the city, asking for their personal encounters to be able to collect stories directly from them and hence, this series also contains a large proportion of previously unpublished tales.

Amongst the principal goals of the series is to introduce the city to contemporary or recently deceased scholars, to remove the aforementioned obstacles and encourage a deeper understanding and relationship with the overall scholarly elite and not a particular few. Thus, whilst there are a few anecdotes from scholars of early generations, I’ve attempted to keep the majority of the stories centred upon contemporary scholars.

Due to the character of the work and the intended target audience, lots of the stories have not been translated within their literal sense but instead, the translations convey the essence and goals of the stories.

An inspirational read for anybody who wants to learn about our pious scholars and how they applied their Islamic beliefs in practice.
