The Whistler was one of radio’s top mystery programs airing from Might 16, 1942 until September 22, 1955. Sponsored by the Indication Oil Business, The Whistler (Joseph Kearns, Gale Gordon and Costs Forman) was an ominous narrator who understood the killer’s every move even before they did. The stories implemented an effective formulation when a person’s legal acts had been typically undone by their personal missteps. The Whistler often commenting straight upon the action in the manner of the Greek chorus, taunting the criminal from an omniscient perspective. One of the present’s trademarks was the ironic twist endings that helped provide as a payoff for the listener.
