The publication formed part of his ‘campaign against morality’, in which Nietzsche explored the moral consequences of the ‘loss of life of God’. Heavily critical not merely of Christian beliefs but also of their modern replacements, Hence Spoke Zarathustra argues for a fresh value-system based across the prophecy of the Ãœbermensch or Superman. Its appropriation by the National Socialist motion in Germany early in the twentieth century offers tainted its popularity unjustly; but you will find signs the rehabilitation of Nietzsche, and of this his most incendiary function, is almost complete.
