Tommy Phan is usually an effective detective novelist living the American dream in Southern California. One night time he comes home to discover a small rag doll on his doorstep. It’s a straightforward doll, covered entirely in white towel, with crossed dark stitches for the eye and mouth area, and another set forming an X over the heart. Interested, he brings it inside.
